Dr. Davin E. Harpe became the principal of Center Grove Middle School North in July of 2018 after serving as the principal of Sugar Grove Elementary from July 2013 to July 2018. Before joining CGCSC, Dr. Harpe accumulated 14 years of experience as a principal, assistant principal, and elementary teacher across several districts, including Brownsburg, Franklin Township, Bartholomew, Hamilton Southeastern, and Western Boone school corporations. The 2025-2026 school year marks Dr. Harpe's 27th year in education, his 22nd year in school administration, and his 8th year leading CGMSN. His leadership excellence has been widely recognized. In 2016, he was named Indiana Association of School Principals State Elementary Principal of the Year, and in 2017, he was honored in Washington, D.C., as a National Distinguished Principal.
Dr. Harpe holds a Bachelor's degree from Indiana University, a Master's degree from Ball State University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Purdue University. His dissertation, "The Relationship Between Teacher Collaboration and Student Achievement," introduced an innovative tool for principals to assess teacher collaboration within schools. For this work, he received the prestigious Norbert Nelson Outstanding Dissertation Award. Dr. Harpe and his wife, Betsy, are proud parents of three children, all of whom have attended Sugar Grove Elementary, Center Grove Middle School North, and will graduate from Center Grove High School. Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Harpe enjoys spending time with his family at sporting events, traveling, biking, and suburbanizing their redbone hound, Ruby.
