About Mr Shimp:

Mr Shimp started his music studies at Center Grove Middle School. He chose percussion as his instrument. Currently, he is a teacher of orchestra and percussion at Center Grove Middle School North. He lives with his wife Erin, his son, William.

Mr Shimp began his teaching career as a High School Band Director for Mayfair High School in Lakewood, California, teaching music appreciation and directing all of the school bands. He then went on to work for Hillview Middle School in the East Whittier City Schools in California, where he taught band, orchestra, and choir. 

Joseph Shimp holds a Bachelor of Music in Education from Millikin University (Decatur, Illinois) and a Masters of Music in Education from Boston University (Massachusetts). He has more than 20 years of professional experience as a music instructor. He is proud to note that at many of his past students have studied and graduated from music schools in California, Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan.
