MSN Cell Phone Policy
Center Grove MS North will enforce the MSN Cell Phone/Electronic Device Policy*, per SEA 185 (Indiana Technology Law). Students will be expected to refrain from using cell phones and other electronic communication devices during the school day. Cell phones must be turned off and kept in the student's locker. (We will continue to use iPads for instruction.)
This has been the practice for many of our teachers in previous years. However, this policy will be enforced by all staff this year.
ALLOWED:
- Before/After School
- Turned OFF and in Locker
NOT ALLOWED:
- During Classes
- During Lunches
- During Passing Periods
To promote an environment that fosters focused learning and supports the well-being of our students:
- Our Goal: To help students stay engaged in their learning by providing clear boundaries.
- Benefits of the Policy: Research indicates that limiting screen usage:
- Enhances learning outcomes
- Reduces incidents of bullying and harassment
- Improves student mental health
- Emergencies: Contact the high school office, and we will assist in reaching your student so you can speak with them. Similarly, if a student needs to contact you with an emergency, they should report to the office, so we can assist them.
* Students who utilize electronic devices to monitor medical conditions (per their IHP) will be permitted to use the devices for those purposes.
DISCIPLINE
A student who violates the MSN Electronic Device policy will have their phone confiscated and disciplinary action will be taken as outlined in the handbook.
